Independent Adoption Home Studies

At Catholic Social Services we offer services to facilitate independent adoptions for those couples who may need a home study completed and/or post placement services by a licensed social worker as required by law with an adoptive placement. These services are completed by licensed, master level social workers who all have experience in adoptions.

The cost involved in the Home Study process include the necessary interviews (generally 3 couple interviews, at least 1 individual interview with each family member), collecting references and necessary clearances, educational material provided to the family, and at least 1 visit to the home. The cost for the Home Study is $1000 for an independent domestic or international Home Study. There is also a $150 application fee for any type of independent adoption, which is non-refundable and doesn't apply to the Home Study.

We can also provide services to update your Home Study. Depending on how recent and how comprehensive your latest Home Study is, the charge for a Home Study update is generally half the cost of a complete independent Home Study.

Once the Home Study is completed and approved, Catholic Social Services can forward your Home Study to the agency of your choice.

Post Placement Services

After having a child placed with you, Catholic Social Services can also provide post placement services, provided by a licensed masters level social worker. Post placement services include a minimum of three home visits with reports for the placing agency and/or court. The cost of post placement supervisory visits are $200 per visit plus the cost of mileage.
