Olga White, our Immigration Specialist and Department of Justice Recognized Representative, is on her way to Tucson, Arizona to attend the Catholic Legal Immigration Network’s Convening 2018.
The Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC) was founded by the United States Bishops and has its roots in Catholic Social teaching. The cases and advocacy positions of CLINIC include reuniting families, protecting those who are persecuted, empowering immigrants through work, authorization, legal status, and citizenship.
Among other awards, CLINIC received special recognition by Pope John Paul II for its collaboration with Jesuit Refugee Services to create legal and pastoral assistance to immigrants. CLINIC also represents more than 170 dioceses and religious communities who bring immigrant priests, sisters, and seminarians to the United States each year.
CLINIC provides an annual conference, Convening, a premier training event for those in the field of helping immigrants. The conference provides the most current information about immigration law, as well as program management techniques for members, as they seek to help communities support immigrant integration. We are fortunate to have Olga serve in this capacity at Catholic Social Services, as we seek to follow the Gospel call to “welcome the stranger” among us.
